Ecokruz.com - FAQ

1. Who is Ecokruz? What is our Mission Statement?

We’re a team of auto enthusiasts. We live in perhaps one of the most exciting times with the “sharing” economy. Our initial goal was to create the largest network of automated car-sharing systems. Whether you want to save the planet or whether you just want to ride in style, we believe it should be accessible to all - "Eco", and provide for a more sustainable economy while being profitable for our partners.

Due to covid-19, we had to make a pivot and re-opened our business in 2020, focusing on full e-Commerce - EV chargers, charging stations and accessories. We are a team of hard working, energetic, team players. Our small team combines many years of automotive and entrepreneurship experience. We strive to make every transaction a successful venture for our clients, suppliers and our staff so you can relax, charge and continue to cruise "Kruz" along.

2. Why do I need a private in-home charger?

Save time and money charging at home. Have peace of mind knowing that your EV is fully charged before heading out the door. You may also benefit from tax credits. Buy and install by December 31, 2020 in the US and claim the credit on your federal tax return. Check with your local and federal tax guidelines.

3. How long does it take to charge up my car at home?

The time it takes to charge an electric car can be as little as 30 minutes or more than 12 hours. This depends on the size of the battery and the speed of the charging point. A typical electric car (60kWh battery) takes just under 8 hours to charge from empty-to-full with a 7kW charging point. The bigger your car’s battery and the slower the charging point, the longer it takes to charge from empty to full. Level 2 chargers are common public chargers at 240 volts and give you between 15 and 40 miles per hour. You can buy one of these from Ecokruz.

4. How much does home charging options cost?

To figure out your cost of charging at home, multiply your vehicle's kWh/100 miles figure by the electric rate for the time of day you'll most often be charging. That figure will tell you the cost per 100 miles.

You also can work from the total kilowatt-hours it takes to recharge the EV's battery. If an EV requires 40 kWh to recharge a fully depleted battery, and the rate is 18 cents per kWh, that's $7.20 for a fill-up.

The average cost for a gallon of regular gasoline in the US over the past two years was $2.35/gallon. Using 15,000 miles as the average amount of miles a person will drive in a year, the annual cost of gasoline for the average car will be about $1,400 per year. The average person driving the average EV 15,000 miles per year pays about $540 per year, or $45 per month, to charge it.

9. I'm looking for a specific adapter for my 2008-2012 Tesla Roadster.

Being that this was one of the pioneers of EVs, prior to the J1772 becoming standard, there are only a few options. There is a "Tesla J1772 Mobile Connector" for roughly $750. You will want to contact your nearest Tesla official store, or there is an aftermarket adaptor called "The Can" you can look up. We do not carry these adaptors at Ecokruz however we look forward to carrying chargers and accessories when the new Roadster (2021) does come out.

10. How do I install one of these charging stations?

It is possible to install a charging station yourself however we highly recommend contacting a local electrician to have a professional install it for you. We are not liable for any damages caused via attempting to install a charging station yourself. Damages due to self-installation voids any warranty or return policies.
